Travel and Visa

Travel :
Pune is connected by several flights to New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport. We recommend arrival via New Delhi Airport as a prefered option. However, Pune is also connected to international airports at Chennai and Bengaluru and is 150 km from Mumbai, which has a large international airport. If you do prefer arriving via Mumbai, Pune can be reached by Yashwantrao Mumbai-Pune expressway by hiring a taxi.

VISA :
We recommend applying for a Visa at least by March end.

Some Indian consulates may require a financial and administrative approval of the conference by competent authority of Government of India.
Please download 'DAE_5421_approval' approval by clicking this link.

Please download 'MEA_658_approval' approval by clicking this link.
Please download 'MHA_approval' approval by clicking this link.

We typically advise international participants attending the conference and/or visiting GMRT/NCRA to apply for a business visa. However, we request you to visit the website of The Indian Embassy or High Commission in your country in case you have additional country specific questions. Please note that holders of eVISAs and VISA-ON-ARRIVAL will not be able to visit GMRT or NCRA.

All participants planning to visit GMRT require to fill a form, which can be downloaded from here. Please fill this form, scan it and send it as an attachment to ipta2019@ncra.tifr.res.in as soon as possible.

If you require an invitation letter to attend the IPTA 2019 Meeting and/or Student week, please contact Jyoti Bhujbal (jyoti@ncra.tifr.res.in) or send a mail to ipta2019@ncra.tifr.res.in. For the invitation letter, we need your full name as it appears in your passport, passport number, nationality, full institute address and your contact email and telephone number.

We encourage you to request your invitation letter as early as possible.
